Project SOS is a 8-bit pirate themed P2E NFT game on the ETH blockchain. The original idea was to create a fully functional playable MMORPG game that took the Play in Play-2-Earn to a whole new level. We provided users with a multiplayer gaming experience as close to that of a traditional RPG flagship game, but layered with all of the utility and earning capabilities attributable to NFTs through staking.
Pirates are the staple element of the on-chain ecosystem. Each pirate has up to eight categories of randomly generated traits leaving tens of thousands of possible combinations. Each trait is separated into a category and marked with specific rarities to determine its frequency of appearance as well as contingencies relating to its positioning in accordance with other possible trait combinations.
Each trait was created pixel by pixel on adobe photoshop.
This project started in a development phase for the first four months where it began to build a ground following naturally through channels like discord and twitter. Once all the base development was finalized we pushed a natural marketing campaign and gained thousands of supporters overnight. The project went live mid March of 2022 and is currently publicly traded on OpenSea. However over 94% of owners have their pirates staked within the game.
The web design and UX is simple and meant to reflect the visual style of an 8-bit retro video game combined with the exploration aspect of its gameplay. The dashboard is fairly straightforward being the location where the player mints and upgrades their assets before entering the online world.

We’ve all grown up with the notion that “playing video games is a waste of time”, but with the adoption of NFTs, anyone can sit down, play a game, and actually be rewarded for it. For much of the past half year, the idle-gaming style projects have ruled supreme. But we believe that combining that concept with a fully immersive web game can appeal to a far greater audience by empowering both investors and gamers to earn no matter how they play.
